Career and Technical Education (CTE)

  • The Career and Technical Education Department at STFHS is comprised of 5 programs that students can choose from.  These programs include Digital Photography, Video Production, Sports Medicine, Sports and Entertainment Management, Video Game Design and Computer Science. All programs are two-year programs that lead to an Arizona Certificate of Program Completion as well as National Certification.  Students are engaged in project-based learning experiences that prepare them for entry into the profession or college degree programs.

    The Digital Photography and Video programs prepare students to create original digital images and videos using an integrated approach to teaching and learning utilizing traditional classroom techniques as well as hands-on laboratory projects and assignments. Students work with state of the art photography and video equipment as they learn the craft of creating professional quality photographic and video portfolios.

    The Sports and Entertainment Management program brings together exciting industries and business. Students will be prepared with the technical skills and knowledge related to business management, communication, public relations, advertising, and marketing.

    Students that enroll in the Sports Medicine Program are provided with the foundations, knowledge and technical skills needed to enter a Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Services at the college level.  The program prepares students to participate in teams, solve problems, think critically and implement effective solutions.

    The Video Gaming Program prepares the students in developing the processes of planning, designing and creating video game projects as well as learning the concepts of 2-D and 3-D animation. Students also learn the foundations of programming. Computer Science Essentials is a yearlong course that exposes students to a diverse set of computational thinking concepts, fundamentals, and tools, allowing them to gain understanding and build confidence using technology.  Students will gain experience in app development, web design, networking, and computer literacy skills.
