Mrs. Denise Guenther - Board President

Term - January 1, 2015 - January 1, 2018

When I decided to run for Florence Governing Board in 2010, I was asked “why?” and it was a simple answer… I believe in traditional public education. That passion has only grown since. My children all have attended Florence Schools since 2006. I have a son that graduated from Poston Butte in 2012, another son graduated from Poston Butte in 2015 and my daughter will graduate from Poston Butte in 2020. My desire for a great education does not stop at my own children because all kids deserve a world-class education. Great public schools build great communities.  I began my first term in 2011 and re-elected to a second term to begin in 2015. During my terms, I have served as Board Vice President for two years and Board President for the past three years. As a district, we have made great strides in becoming a District by Design. We are improving in our test scores, school cultures are remarkable, we have leaders in place that truly believe in Kids First and have grown in size with the passing of the Consolidation that added three new schools to the Florence District Family. It is a true honor to serve the Students and the Community of Florence Unified.

Mr. Bob Dailey - Vice-President

Term - January 1, 2017 - January 1, 2020

After 28 years as a Manager/Director level with nationally recognized healthcare insurance companies, in 2004 Bob opened the East Valley office of Visiting Angels. This was in response to the needs he discovered when his own parents became older and required in-home services. Bob’s mother had Alzheimer’s disease from the time she was in her early 50’s and his father suffered from heart disease, leaving Bob to manage the care they received in their final years. He became determined to provide better and more reliable care than what existed for his own parents 20+ years ago.  Bob’s background includes a Certification in Project Management/Accounting through the University of Colorado at Denver and many in-house courses in healthcare management with Prudential Insurance, Blue Cross Insurance, and Zenith, Workers Compensation Insurance.

Bob is past President of East Valley HSP (Human Services Professionals), current FUSD Board Member, Copper Basin YMCA Board Member. He is a Founding Member and current Treasurer of the Arizona in Home Care Association (AZNHA), Board Member for PASRS (Professional Association of Senior Resource Specialists) and for the past 10 years serves as a Governing Board Member of the Florence Unified School District. Bob is very active in the community and helped to start the San Tan Regional Chamber of Commerce back in 2006.

Steve and his wife have lived in the Johnson Ranch sub-division of San Tan Talley since 2003. Steve has always been active in the community. He has volunteered his time with numerous organizations but has remained a board of director for the Copper Basin YMCA and San Tan Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is currently the Pinal County Director for the Arizona School Board Association.  Steve owns a State Farm Insurance Agency and enjoys being a Good Neighbor. He is a member of the Gila Valley Masonic Lodge # 9 in Florence AZ. In his spare time, he enjoys officiating football, baseball and announcing Bronco basketball at Poston Butte. Steve and his wife have been host parents for several exchange students in FUSD.

Steve firmly believes that you should give back to your community and leave it better than you found it. He also believes that a quality education is essential for a child’s journey to be successful. In addition, he believes strong schools build strong communities which benefit everybody. He is committed to building  FUSD by design and not by chance.

I became interested in FUSD when my granddaughter was in the 7th grade. I was appointed to fill a vacant position in July of 2002, and have been honored to have been appointed two more times and elected 4 times. I know many graduates from Florence schools who have had successful careers in many fields. My interest in the Board is to see that every student in our District has an opportunity to learn and succeed to the best of their abilities.

I chose to run for the Florence Governing School Board because I share the community's concern of maintaining and enhancing the quality of public education for our 9,200 plus students.  My two children have called FUSD their home their entire academic career.  I have been an involved community member for the past 10 years having served 4 of them in different organizations within the schools.  I am committed to making sure our teachers and administrators have the tools & support they need to be successful in the classroom.  I support engaging curricula, fiscally and academically responsible decisions, and keeping public education public.  I am dedicated to our kids' education, their future, and their schools.  Their time is now!  Most importantly, I am a committed parent and a member of our community.  I believe it takes a village, not just to raise a child, but to raise Leaders!  It is an amazing feeling to have a hand in a child's education.  I can't thank the voters enough for allowing me to work with them and trusting me with their children's needs.  I am honored to be part of the District By Design Not By Chance movement and look forward to seeing its success!
